It was only a few days back that the company decided to send the Samsung Galaxy Fold to members of the technology press to review. And this is when problems started from Samsung, as some reports have surfaced online which say that some of the devices that were sent to reviewers broke. While a number of issues related to the Galaxy Fold smartphone have surfaced online, most of them point towards breaking the device’s innovative folding display technology.
Samsung has also acknowledged the issue and in its statement, it said that it “will thoroughly inspect these units in person to determine the cause of the matter.” However, according to The Wall Street Journal, Samsung Galaxy Fold’s launch, that is scheduled for April 26, has not been delayed yet. Here’s a look at what Samsung had to say about the issue with Galaxy Fold: “A limited number of early Galaxy Fold samples were provided to media for review. We have received a few reports regarding the main display on the samples provided. We will thoroughly inspect these units in person to determine the cause of the matter. Separately, a few reviewers reported having removed the top layer of the display causing damage to the screen. The main display on the Galaxy Fold features a top protective layer, which is part of the display structure designed to protect the screen from unintended scratches. Removing the protective layer or adding adhesives to the main display may cause damage. We will ensure this information is clearly delivered to our customers.” The foldable smartphone by Samsung is priced at $1,980 and the company has also confirmed that it will be launched in India too. The South Korean technology giant has said in the past that with Galaxy Fold, it is focussing on providing its customers with a much larger real estate in terms of the screen. However, in a premium offering like Samsung Galaxy Fold, breaking of the device within a week of usage is not acceptable.
